January 2011 orientation programme

Hello! It's a new year and a new begining. To all the seniors of KBU , welcome back everyone.
To all who just joined KBU, welcome to KBU!

to welcome all new KBU students, they Student Council organize orientation programme for them to break the ice and make new friends.

for this year's January intake, the orientation programme was held at Lecture Theater 1, Level 7.

The new students this intake were really outgoing and weren't shy with each other. First they were registered when they came in the room. Then they were split to 4 groups of name Tarzan, Scooby Doo, Barbie & Pooh.

In their smaller groups, they gathered together and introduce themselves to their group members.

after breaking the ice among each other, they were then told to create a mascot out of newspaper and masking tape. It was creativity at its work. These were the mascots



They were given a surprise ,when the mascots were told to do a runway walk to parade their group's masterpiece. As the mascots themself weren't shy, they actually had a good time doing the catwalk !! some even fooling with each other.

Lastly ,every group were given a movie example : Twilight, they were suppose to pass the message from one end to another end by only acting it out and the last person is suppose to guess what the movie is.. Everyone had a good time laughing as along the way, the message is passed wrongly and the outcome turned out different!

After all the fun, other clubs in KBU then introduced themselves in letting students know what are the available clubs there are in KBU that they could join.

The day ended with everyone getting a KBU goodie bag to bring back as part of a memorable first day at college =)

Charity Christmas Celebration

17th December 2010, a memorable day for 87 children.

Our college has organized it's first ever charity Christmas event for the children of 3 different orphanages. On this special day, students, lecturers and staff of KBU worked hand in hand to make this event a joyous and wonderful one for these kids, preparing numerous activities and games, ensuring that they would all leave with a smile on their faces.

As soon as the children arrived, they were brought to the registration counter to get their hands stamp with cute little Christmas icons designed by the lecturers of the School of Design. After that, they were then brought to get their face painted as well as a photography session, whereby all the children had an individual shot of themselves that would later be printed out and given to them at the end of the day.




Lunch Time!! The much awaited time of the day, and guess what's on the menu? Happy Meal!!! Just who wouldn't love Happy Meal. The kids were lead to the cafeteria to enjoy their sumptuous burger and the little toy that came in the set.

After their meal, they were then separated into 2 groups, one doing origami, the other doing hand painting. They were thought how to make cranes during the origami session, and as for the hand painting, we prepared 2 canvases for them to stamp their little hands and fingers onto it to create a painting that was to be presented to our Principal, Dr. See, as a token of appreciation.




It was then time for games. The game was pretty simple, they were to scrunch newspaper into balls and throw them into a box. But as kids love to throw things, it went a little out of hand when the children just couldn't stop throwing newspapers when the game ended. But nonetheless, it was delightful to know that the kids were having fun.



Time for an ice-cream break!! The kids were each given an ice-cream to be enjoyed at the cafeteria. After all was done, they were then brought back to the lobby for the final few agendas of the day.

We had a carolling session by the Christian Fellowship and a gift session as well. Each child was given a present by non other than our very own Santa Claus! They were also given a goodie bag each to be brought home with them.





It was indeed a joyous and memorable day not only for the children, but also for all those who has participated for the event. A special thanks to the Rotaract Club, Interior Architecture and Design Club, Graphic Design Club, Christian Fellowship, Lecturers, Staff of KBU, and the members of the Student Council for making this event a successful one and bringing smiles into the faces of these children.

Special Christmas Celebration

To all staff and students of KBU International College,

As KBU International College celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year, the College would also like to remember the underprivileged. The School of Design and Student Services Department will be making this coming Christmas season special for 100 children (age ranges from 7-18) from three different welfare homes. There will be lots of fun and exciting activities for these children.

The Graphics Design Club, Interior Architecture & Design Club, Rotaract Club, Christian Fellowship and Student Council are all combining efforts to make this event successful. To make this event meaningful for these orphanage children as well as the entire KBU community, we would like to invite you to join us and participate in this joyous occasion. Here is how you can participate:

1) Make a Christmas gift(s)* donation for the children; and/or
2) Make a cash/cheque** donation for “happy meal” and goodie bags.

* Please do not buy food item. Please wrap all gift items.
**Please make cheque payable to ‘First City Corporation Sdn Bhd’.

There will be two collection points:

1) Student Services Department
2) School of Design
